Calendar WEBSITES FOR POST-SECONDARY SCHOOL SEARCH PROCESS

OCIS – The Ohio Career Information System included interest inventories, occupation searches and information, and college searches. This program is a great starting spot for all students http://ocis2006.ode.state.oh.us Username:  Password:

NCAA Clearinghouse – This link is especially designed for those students who wish to continue their athletic careers after high school. Students desiring to participate in intercollegiate athletics on a Division I, II, or III level must register with the NCAA Clearinghouse to be eligible. www.ncaaclearinghouse.net

ACT – ACT test registration and practice tests are available as well as other pertinent information about testing. www.actstudent.org.

SAT – SAT test registration and practice tests are available. www.collegeboard.com The Fort Jennings CEEB code is 362155.

FAFSA – The Free Application for Student Aid is necessary for all families to complete and submit after January 1st of a student’s senior year. Many colleges have a mid-February or early March deadline for this to be completed so that they may issue financial aid awards. This form may be completed on the web or on paper but the web has a quicker turn around time. www.fafsa.ed.gov

Studentaid - This link is very helpful for all students and parents. It will lead you through the college process from preparing to choosing to applying to funding to attending to repaying. The site has areas geared towards elementary through college age students and their parents. http://studentaid.ed.gov

MyMajors – This relatively new site is an interesting place to visit and check out majors and careers. Some you may never have heard of. It is a nice place to start investigating. www.MyMajors.com

Fastweb – A good starting spot for scholarships. This site will ask specific questions to help you find those unique scholarships. These will even email you when new ones are available or deadlines are coming due. My recommendation is that all students register for a fastweb account. www.fastweb.com

Career Search – Many students need help in choosing a career or major to start out with. This site may be of help in creating interests and starting the investigation process. www.mapping-your-future.org
